Tickling my fancy

Monday, February 27th, 2006

I’m starting to like this website called tickle. Ang dami niyang mga self-discovery tests. Let me share the results of some of the tests I took last night:

Ruby, your Emotional IQ is 131.

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Tickle’s Emotional IQ test. But your Emotional IQ score is much more than just a number: it’s an indicator of success.

Research has shown that people with high emotional intelligence scores — not necessarily those with the highest IQ scores — tend to be the most valued and productive employees and have the longest and happiest romantic relationships.

So, where are you most emotionally smart? Your test results show that your strongest suit is perception — your ability to pick up on what others are feeling.

Because of this, you are unusually good at reading people’s verbal and non-verbal cues. You’re especially aware of the subtleties of people’s actions, and can feel out the vibe of a situation better than many. That gives you and edge many wish they had. People with high perception skills like yours, however, tend to rely on them to the exclusion of others. As a result, they sometimes have underdeveloped abilities in other realms of critical emotional intelligence like managing emotions, empathy, and being expressive.

To truly excel in life and know how to relate to different people, you need to balance out the different kinds of emotional intelligence.

Research indicates that if people who are strong in perception can work to increase their overall emotional IQ score, they can prepare themselves to handle any interpersonal exchange with amazing skill — especially by learning to be empathetic and by being able to express what it is they are feeling or trying to say.

And the good news is that people who try to improve their emotional IQ have far greater success than people who try to improve their IQ.

I guess you can tell what kind of test I took with that one. Here’s another…

Ruby, you’re an Impulse Shopper

Were you born to shop? Maybe it’s the allure of new things or the fun you have along the way. Or maybe you enjoy shopping to relieve boredom or stress. Either way a little retail therapy seems to do the trick. We wouldn’t be surprised to hear that you headed to the mall for sandals and came back with a new winter coat. It also wouldn’t surprise us to find some clothes in your closet that still have the price tags on them. A seasoned and enthusiastic shopper like you knows that things are here one day, gone the next. So if you like it, it’s best to buy it when you’ve got the chance. And you’ll definitely use it or wear it… eventually.

As for gift giving, you might have a stash of goods that you picked up at some point that you can draw from. If not, it’s probably not that much of a stretch to think that you wouldn’t mind going shopping for something. What’s not to love about shopping and the thrill of the hunt? It’s fun, exciting, and a great way to bond with friends. And if you find a few things for yourself along the way — even better!

That one was about my shopping style…Here’s another:

Ruby, your beauty secret is Living in the Moment

While some people rely of layers of cover up, Botox treatments, or endless reps at the gym to look good, you feel — and look — your best when you’re actively involved in what’s going on in your life. Sincere and open, you try not to let negative aspects from the past or worries about your future affect what is happening today. And that’s what helps you enjoy and appreciate most things that you do.

It’s the big events in life that you put most of your thought and energy into, which means you don’t spend a lot of time sweating the little ones. Sound like a healthy way to deal with life? It is.

So what are you waiting for?

Indonesian Pastor Attacked by Muslims

Brought to you by The Voice of Martyrs

Santoso

Although he lost his teeth from a machete attack by a Muslim fanatic, Santoso returns with new teeth to share Christ.

"Santoso" is a farmer and a pastor for a small village church in Indonesia. He was attacked on the way home after sharing Christ with Muslims on a farm in the city of Poso. He and a friend, both on motorbikes, were hit with a machete wielded by a Muslim who jumped from a bush. The Muslim tried to cut off his head but missed, hitting him in the mouth. He ran to his village holding his face. Because of the attack Santoso lost 10 teeth and damaged his tongue and his friend’s fingers were cut off. (This was the third attempt on Santoso’s life.) VOMedical staff has flown him to Java twice for treatment and is happy to report that Santoso now has teeth implants. Before going into his last surgery, he told us, "I read Ephesians 1:19 which promises God’s great power to us who believe. God sends me power so I can bear suffering. We rejoice that one Muslim has come to Christ."

Christians across the 3,000 inhabited islands of Indonesia are suffering increased attacks, church burnings, imprisonment and threats from angry mobs because of their bold faith in Jesus Christ! Much of the world would like you to believe that Christians are no longer persecuted but Santoso would disagree. Now you can stay informed of what is really happening to your Christian brothers and sisters in countries like Indonesia and discover practical ways that you can get involved.
