Goodbye, Mel
Monday, April 24th, 2006
Philippine fashion has recently suffered a great loss in the death
of couturier Mel Vergel de Dios. I met him for the first (and unfortunately, the
last) time last January in Sir Shanon’s birthday party in Astoria. Mel liked my
singing and said he wouldn’t leave until I sang again. We had so much fun that
night.
Mel was also a consigner for Cinderella. His clothes are under the label
Pour Elle. His RTW line in other stores are known as
Vis-A-Vis and Vergel de Dios. I was fortunate
to have seen his collection during the Philippine Fashion week early this month
in the NBC Tent.
His mother remembers him as a faithful and loving son.
His remains are in Arlington Memorial Chapel in Araneta Ave, QC.
Please pray for justice.
