My Birthday

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

I turn a year older today.

Actually, my mom, loving as she is, forgot that my birthday falls today. Hence, walang handa (na naman). But it’s okay. My officemates threw me a party at work, thanks to EBR. Ang ganda ng gising ko today actually. I got a lot of really thoughtful messages today from friends — a reminder from God how well-loved I am. Thanks guys! I love you, too.

Last week, I was complaining how my birthdays have always sucked. Seriously. I am not a person who’s hard to please okay but something always goes wrong on my special day. Last year, it rained so hard nagkabrownout. There was no food so I had luncheon meat for dinner.

The year before that, I told my mom not to worry so much about preparing for my birthday. So walang hinanda. I ended up eating leftover corned beef that day.

2003 was great. We had a streetcleaning outreach that day and I cleaned the streets of Pasig. The end result? The people we were reaching out to are now part of CCF East. Then I had dinner with my family at Bubba Gump where we shared a humongous mud pie. I have pictures to prove it! ;)

Balik uli tayo sa 2006. This year, I told God: "Please take care of my birthday. I don’t want it to be a flop anymore." After all, He’s the One who gave me A birthday, right? So far, it’s turning out well.

My birthday wish: to look hot even when I’m 70. I have one laugh line, just one, on my left cheek. Other than that, I don’t think I’ve aged at all.
